Mr. Scruff's Grandad's Choice

While looking through the piles of Nice-Cuppa-Tea E-Mail one stood out, an offer of free tea was one the team could not refuse...

Mr. Scruff is a big DJ and producer, his music is usually classed as dance music but more specifically, it is a happy animated fusion of jazz and breakbeats. But with the focus on having a nice brew rather than getting off your head on drugs.

The people of Sparkle Street called upon us to test the tea with specific details of how it should be made, unlike our previous tests where we have gone along the normal teapot method of tea making, this time we were supporting the teabag over the mug with a spoon, pouring the boiling water over the teabag which then trickles down into the mug and infuses with the milk.

The new method excited the team and the results were as follows...

The Tea Testers available to test were, in alphabetical order: Matt Curd, Callum Green, Matt Green and the wisest tea tester among us Roger "Tea" Green. The team were skeptical of the new method of making tea and were particularly concerned with the strength of tea it would create.

"This tea claims to be Grandad's Choice so naturally you would think weak, slow, stable but in my opinion it's not sitting about in it's rocking chair it's out and about playing golf and hiking with the big boys."

"It really did produce the goods and made my tastebuds salute. The look is not that great but it doesn't matter - the smell is cracking. It is like a Russian spy, I love it but I don't trust it."

"This method of tea production has had huge impact on the strength and look of this tea. I'd like to highlight that its production method is different to previous tests. This is a solid contender in the tea market and provides a distinct quality taste, it is not overpowering but I think as the summer is coming this tea will compliment the summer months."

"Unusual aroma and a bit weak."

Although not one of the highest scoring teas we have tested I think its qualities are far more personal than our test provides, the new method of production works very well with this tea. We tried the new method with TeaDirect teabags and it didn't come out right at all. To balance that we tried Grandad's Choice bags in a teapot and that came out to gritty. The method compliments the tea and for what it lacks in strength it makes up for in its unique taste and aroma.

Thank you to the people of Mr. Scruff and Sparkle Street for giving us this tea, we recommend this tea for it's unique qualities and this great new method of making tea.
