What's this?

A new tea? Yes indeed, while browsing the shelves at Asda we came across this new snazzy looking tea. First of all it wins prizes for the box - not only is it a cracking looking design but it also has a re-sealable lid for that fresh tea feel.

We threw the rest of the shopping to the floor and ran to the checkout with this beauty. The name sounds a bit like something you would put in your washing machine - but don't let that put you off.

Matt and Matt were available to test Percol, they had one main concern with a phrase on the box 'Perfect Tea' But we were pleased to see it is a fair-trade tea which is reassuring to know.

The price was good for 80 Teabags, £1.40 seems quite reasonable compared to other fair-trade rival TeaDirect.

There was another tester who we have never spoke of before. She has been testing the tea since day one, Matt's faithful dog Abbie has had her tea cooled since we did our first test in 2003. Up until this point she has not actually drunk any tea, but surprisingly she tucked into a bowl of Percol.

"The quote on the front of the box immediately hit me 'Perfect Tea' and I have to say it isn't. It isn't the perfect Tea but it's certainly keeping PG Tips in relegation."

"At first this sounded like a Washing Powder, but it is far off from the taste of that and to be honest it's far off from the taste of perfect tea."

"Woof!"

So this falls in between Tetley and PG Tips with our testers, it's in the bottom half of the Tea Table. But we have to remember that although it's scored low in our tests it is still a top of the range tea. We also took into account the price and the fact it is a Fair-trade tea, we have to compensate somewhere and at the end of the day, you get a good cup of tea for your money and a fresh attractive tea caddy with it.

Abbie the dog loved her cup of Percol, maybe this is the tea of choice for Tea Loving dogs out there! We recommend the tea to be left to go warm for half an hour, with no milk or sugar. Hopefully your dog will enjoy it as much as Abbie did!
